What the heck is there to do in Isumi Chiba?

Just got a place in Isumi, what should I be doing to occupy my time besides yard work?

  1. Isumi? Besides the yellow flowers nothing much to do I am afraid. But it is a beautiful place in spring.

  2. Isumi is a nice little piece of the boso peninsula but there’s just about fuck all to do.

You’d have more choices if you were in uchibo but sotobo doesn’t have much going for itself except seafood.

  3. There’s a place near there I really want to go, a woman who makes artisanal cheese, which is very hard to do considering Japan’s milk pasteurization requirements. [チーズ工房千](https://fromage-sen.com/) . Watch the English subtitled video down the page there.

  4. I was in Isumi-gun as a JET as well (albeit ten years ago). I took up running and karate. There is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school in Kazusa-Ichinomiya if that interests you. Otherwise, enjoy the beach and get to know the locals. I still trade letters with some of them ten years later. It’s not the best place if you thought you were going to end up in Tokyo, but there are awesome people around if you are willing to get to know them. You’ll find your favorite haunts and you will be known in the community.

  5. Two great sake breweries worth visiting: Kidoizumi and Iwase Shuzo. Kidoizumi is near Ohara Station, and Iwase is near Onjuku.

  6. Depends on where in Isumi. Coastal Isumi, there’s a lot of outdoor shit and some decent restaurants along the coast.

Further inland, well…. Go for a drive?

  7. Visit goi. They might still have a snack unless that lady died. A Korean restaurant. Aeon~~~
