Itinerary Check – Osaka/Kyoto/Tokyo 11 Days

Hi there! This is a first draft of what I’m thinking for my trip next fall. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or feedback! I’m very interested in theater and music, so a lot of my evening activities are going to be seeing plays/musicals or concerts. What they are specifically and when will depend on when I end up booking.

Day 1: Arrive in Osaka, check-in to hotel, dinner.

Day 2: Osaka Castle in the morning, wander Umeda and grab lunch in the afternoon, and go to a musical.

Day 3: Spend the morning and early afternoon at Universal Japan, go back to hotel to take a nap, and then go out
for drinks.

Day 4: Osaka Aquarium and National Art Museum in the morning/early afternoon, then seeing Takarazuka Revue
that evening.

Day 5: Early train to Kyoto, Fushimi Inari hike in morning. Nintendo Museum (assuming it’s open by then) and Kyoto National Museum in afternoon, then train back to Osaka in evening.

Day 6: Check out of hotel, train to Tokyo in morning, sightseeing/find good aerial view of city, check-in to hotel, go see musical in evening.

Day 7: No morning plans yet, Studio Ghibli museum in afternoon, then a concert/other kind of event in evening.

Day 8: Shopping at Pokemon Center/other gaming stores, lunch at Pokemon Cafe, then Yomiuri Giants game in evening.

Day 9: Fashion shopping during day (haven’t decided where yet), then concert in evening.

Day 10: Disney Sea in morning/early afternoon, then musical in evening.

Day 11: Grab breakfast/last minute shopping, flying out that afternoon/evening from Tokyo.

I know the Kyoto day is a bit tight, but I’m hoping to get those tasks done in one or maybe two days.

  1. Your Kyoto days seems manageable. You should be able to do the things you want to do as long as there is no major hiccup

Half a day at USJ may not be enough to do everything you want as it’s almost always crowded. You may want to consider buying and express pass if you only intend to spend half a day there

  2. I know you’re only doing a day trip into Kyoto, but you should take a look into GEAR – it’s a nonverbal live performance… and an absolutely incredible one at that. It’s unforgettable. They have I think a 12pm and 5pm show most days. I could be slightly off with the timing but it’s worth a google check. 😊
