This isn’t a translation question, since I feel confident I’m reading the sentence (mostly) correctly, I just don’t understand what it’s asking me to do.
次の文の_*_に入る最もよいものを1、2、3、4、から一つえらびなさい。
To me this reads as “In the next sentence, choose the best answer out of 1,2,3 or 4”. The problem is the context. It comes after 15 other regular fill in the blank questions. And also there’s this _*_ thing I don’t understand. In the regular fill in the blanks, it was just a normal _____. There’d be no reason to change the instructions if this was also a normal fill in the blank. Here’s an example.
「ハヤトウリ」_ _*_いますか
1 しって
2 を
3 やさい
4 という
I thought it was しって but the answer according to the answer key is を.
Here’s another.
あしたは_*_ _にいます。
1ぐらい
2 4時
3 まで
4 いえ
The answer was ぐらい which I find so confusing??? Maybe I’m just dumb? “It’s around tomorrow”?
Also no way the differing amount of _ and where the star is isn’t relevant to the questions somehow, right? That’s definitely suspicious!
I’m getting around 70% on the regular fill in the blank grammar questions so I feel like it’s not just that I’m bad at Japanese (although I definitely am bad at Japanese lmao) but something else.
Please help me Reddit! Thanks!!
Edit: sorry if it’s hard to read Reddit keeps formatting it weirdly

If this doesn’t belong here, please let me know.
I can’t speak to whether it belongs here or not, but these questions are asking you to essentially know what rider the four words go in the sentence. In your “other example, the whole sentence is あしたは四時ぐらいまでいえにいます。”I will be home until about 4 tomorrow”. The star in the question is in the second position so of those four words ぐらい goes there.
The first is 「ハヤトウリ」というやさいをしっています by the way

I asked about this recently in my own post: https://www.reddit.com/r/translator/s/EQCOuvYM2b
I found the commenter’s explanation there very clear!
