  1. You know how I deal with really stupid questions, particularly ones outside of this thread? I ignore them. So why do you lot instead take the time to be absolute dicks to the OPs that post them?

  2. Stupid question but would it be okay to send a letter to someone *without* writing your (sender’s) address and only the recipient’s address? Google search tells me I can but wondering if anyone has actually done it and was successful.

For context, my ex is asking me to send him back a few documents of his that I mistakenly took with me when I moved. I don’t want him to know my new address nor I won’t have the time or money to take a shinkansen back to his place. So would it be alright to just pack an envelope, write his address on it, and send it without writing my (sender’s) address? I’d be fine with just writing my name so that he knows it’s from me but would prefer to not write my address.

  3. How packed is USJ Osaka these days? Got family coming and they want to go there. Will they be able to enter Nintendo World normally without the premium pass?

  4. Is there any point in going into the immigration office and asking about the status of PR application? I have some free time and it’s usually not busy. We want to build our house soon so it would be nice to know where my application is at.

  5. I’m using r-agent right now. I’m thinking about trying to get into maybe overseas sales or something. Are there any other non IT recruiters that are foreigner friendly?

  6. What are the recommend ski resorts to go to in Japan? Its my first year and (i think) theres an event at the tokyo big sight that sells preseason tickets this weekend

  7. Is there some sort of legal deadline for landlord to pay back the deposit?

It’s been 3 weeks since we did the walk-through with the facility management company. They claim the owner (which is a large American real estate investment company) is taking time to get back on their estimate.

Not in a big hurry but that feels quite long.

BTW during walk-through, it seemed they will ask me to pay for the whole reflooring due to 3 small damages on that joke of a floor. I thought the purpose of that weak flooring was that it was easy to just replace a panel or two. Any experience with this?

  8. Japan post related sorry my first time doing this, I am on a business trip and i have some mail sent to me from home, I have already sent a redelivery request to my area where i am at now, question is how do i get the mail in japan post without the redelivery notice slip? I have googled and it said that i just need to provide an ID and they will process it? No need to fill up any form at the post office??
    TIA

  9. Have you come across any chocoZAP sneaky small-print tricks? Anything to be wary of in general about signing up with them? Is it easy enough to stop the contract?

A new one just opened in a spot very convenient for me – hardly any exercise equipment there (it seems that store focuses on “este” primarily), but on the other hand, I’ve only ever seen one person in there in the 10 times I’ve walked past.

  10. What’s the best plan for a 1-2 day trip to nikko from Tokyo if you don’t have a car? There’s a bunch of us and we wanted to see the autumn leaves this weekend.

  11. Why does Netflix Japan only offer the dubbed version of some English language films?

They released Operation Mincemeat the other day, but you can only watch the version that has been dubbed into Japanese for some reason. Stupid and annoying practice.

  12. Supermarkets sell whole fish and I very much enjoy the taste of lightly seasoning the fish and grilling it. But has this fish been gutted and such? In other words, is it ready to eat without much prep.

  13. What exactly are my rights regarding the time/schedule of my work breaks?

I know as someone working an 8 hour shift I’m entitled to a 45 minute break. However my employer (shitty eikaiwa lol) usually expects me to take them within an hour or two of starting work, before I’ve taught classes or even need a break.

My boss is trying to fill the 30 minutes gap where I usually take a break and eat dinner, because expecting me to eat 3 hours later is ridiculous.

Sometimes part of my break time is at the end of my shift, but I’m not allowed to clock out and leave early. I’m not sure how that’s legally not imprisonment since the break is unpaid lol.

  14. What’s a good legal side hustle next to working at eikaiwa? I never finish after 8pm which is nice. I have one private student outside of work but any other suggestions?

  15. Considering getting a home bakery for the pre-bake processes, namely, kneading and proofing. Not really sure I want to get a fancy expensive one if I’m not going to bake in the unit itself, so kind of at a loss what price point or features I should be looking at. (Going to be using my usual oven)

Any product recommendations? Like maybe yours is great at everything but the actual cooking process?
