I would like to study in a language School but don’t know how to go about it

I’ve always had an interest in living/moving to Japan and I would like to study over there but I am not sure how to go about organising it/where to look/ who to contact/ where to apply, I’m currently living and working in Ireland and have passed my leaving cert(a levels/ passed high school), any help/ advice would be very much appreciated thank you 🙏

  2. It depends on your end goal, if you want to go to university after language school then you just need to find a school with a university prep course (which most of them do have). Sites like gogonihon can help you narrow down your options, I heard they’re a useless middleman but it doesn’t hurt to consult with them since it’s free. But after you pick a school the process is quite simple albeit kinda long with a lot of waiting, though the school (or agency if you choose to go through an agency) will guide you through it. I’m also in the same position currently looking for a school but I’ve applied for a Japanese student visa before so it’s not that intimidating for me. Good luck!

  3. If you’re entirely clueless, just pay a service like GoGoNihon and let them do it all for you.

If you want to learn how to be independent, which is really critical to your success in Japan, then start by searching for schools and finding ones you’re interested in, then reach out to their admissions office to inquire.

  4. Before committing to a language school, I would highly suggest making use of the working holiday visa it is a luxury most countries do not have. Under a student visa you are restricted to working 28 hours a week and must attend classes or your visa will be rescinded, and you will be sent home.

Under a working holiday visa, you are free to work as much as you want and have no obligations.

You can take this a gap year to figure out what direction you want to go in life if you have not decided yet and look into the idea of doing university here. Language school is not cheap and is meant more for older people trying to pivot their life to integrating here.

But as general life advise I would strongly suggest looking into university’s during this time since you are just starting adulthood and, in this day, it is pretty much needed for anything other than slave labor.
