I don’t know if I did it wrong, but I couldn’t register my bank for automatic payments online upon applying for the credit card cause my name is too long and so I thought I’d apply for the CC online using JUST my first name and last name (e.g. R.Q.) and just apply to connect my bank via mail, only this time I included my full name that is also indicated on my bank account (e.g. R.C.M.Q.). I’ve yet to hear back from Rakuten, but will this be an issue? If yes, is there a way I can explain it to them, or can I change my CC name to my full name if I just explain to them that I couldn’t input my full name from the get go when I applied for the CC online cause their site wouldn’t let me put too many characters?

If you fail the autodebit set-up they will send you a physical mail for you to write your bank details in and attach some copy of bank passbook / identity verification etc. later on.
My Rakuten card similarly has only First Last, while my bank account is First Middle Last. I was able to set up autopay just fine, but only by using the mail-in paper form (online didn’t work.) No questions asked about the name discrepancy, they just went ahead and processed it straight away.
I had the same problem. I have a longass useless name due to being a south Asian 😂 couldn’t register online banking due to name difference but got rakuten CC anyway and was paying the bill with 払込用紙.
then out of curiosity I called them explained the situation and they sent me forms to change katakana name to my bank accoun’s katakana name, then I was able to link it via online.
