Hi all, I’m planning a trip with the 5 day north Kyuushu JR pass during Golden Week. I don’t have a license, so driving into the mountains or oceanside isn’t an option unfortunately 🙁
Any suggestions or advice would be great!
Day 1 (hotel near Hakata station):
Reach Fukuoka Hakata station at 11.30am
Find lunch (suggestions welcome!)
Canal city and Rengo market
Fukuoka castle ruins park and ohori park
If time permits, Fukuoka science museum
Dinner at Yatai
Day 2 (hotel next to kumamon village):
Go to Kumamoto after checkout
Kumamoto castle and lunch at Josaien
Suizenji garden
Kumamon square and Kumamon village
Dinner somewhere around the area
Day 3 (hotel near Tosu premium outlets)
(Early morning) A-train + ferry to Amakusa for dolphin watching cruise
Lunch at Amakusa L’isola terrace
Back to Kumamoto and continue to Tosu
Tosu premium outlets, dinner around the area
Day 4 (hotel near Nagasaki station)
Go to Nagasaki after checkout
Explore Dejima to Hollander slope area (any restaurants to recommend around the area?)
Atomic bomb museum and peace park
No idea for dinner place yet
Day 5 (hotel near momochi beach)
Checkout and head back towards Fukuoka
Momochi seaside park and beach

Nagasaki you have to eat in Chinatown, either chanpon or sara udon.
How are you getting the JR Kyushu pass? I wanted to get it too but they only offer it to temporary visitors.
EDIT: nvm I found the asterisk for resident foreigners
Getting an international driver’s license legit involves going to a AAA office, and giving them $20 if you’re in the states.

Apparently there are ways to get them online for a bit more.
Just wanted to say Kyushu is awesome.
If you have any particular preferences/restrictions in terms of food I might be able to flip along some places that I went to and was deciding between during my trip.
