I delayed submitting residency renewal documents until the last minute, so I ended up extending My Number card for a 2-month grace period. But after renewal, I can not access the “Residence application online system”(在留申請オンラインシステム) and got an error:

Unfortunately in my case, it did not help at all – I am still getting the same error. I wasted 30 minutes explaining to every clerk at マイナンバー窓口 that I needed to reset my PIN/password to access 在留申請オンラインシステム. I guess that I managed to reset the PIN and password since at last they asked me to enter the previous 4-symbol PIN and enter both the new 4-symbol PIN and the new 6-symbol password (I actually entered the same PIN/password). Is entering a PIN enough for resetting both PIN and password or did the last clerk misunderstand me and never fully reset my PIN and password?
Did anyone encounter the same issue? Even if not, is it critical to have access to 在留申請オンラインシステム after applying (I chose to have the resident card sent by mail instead of picking it up at the immigration office)?

Are you actually able to extend your my number card like that? When I help foreign residents at the My Number madoguchi, my coworkers always explain it as, if you don’t renew it before the expiration date on the card, it’s going to do ore and you have to pay the thousand yen fee to get it re-set up.
So I wonder if you need to do that? Though I imagine the staff would have seen that and said so when you talked to them

I don’t think so. Maybe for checking the status or extension cancellation for whatever reason (I had this cancellation nightmare, LOL). However, this poses a new challenge: creating a new account for 在留申請オンラインシステム after every Zairyuu and My Number renewal. Considering a new Zairyuu is A NEW ZAIRYUU (not only metadata, but a completely new number and everything) and a new My Number will have to be issued after you get a new Zairyuu.
