Want to Stay in Japan for about 1-2 Years

Hello Everyone!

I have been to Japan twice, each time for about 10-14 days, and I have visited cities like Matsuyama, Osaka, Kyoto, and Tokyo. I love Japan and I want to explore the possibility of moving there, but I don’t want to commit to a long-term or permanent stay, because I have heard many stories about how the work culture there is very demanding.

My Japanese is not very fluent, but it is enough to get by (Of course, I want to improve it)

I work as an IT helpdesk with one year of experience

I have an associate degree in computer/business information systems

I have heard about student visas, which might be a good option for me to go to Japan and learn Japanese there. I am looking for some guidance from anyone who has done something similar or knows more about the process.

Thanks!

  2. Finish your bachelors in your home country. Lets say you sink a ton of money into language school for two years and it turns out that you love japan. Guess what, you can’t stay. If you have your bachelors then do language school, you satisfy immigration requirements to at least qualify for a work visa.

  3. Just finish your BS degree then go to a language school after. Are you American? WGU has an Information Techology BS (you also get the Comptia Certs in the degree which is good). It’s online like $4k a semester (6months) and its self paced.
