Work Visa – Reporting Quit Job

I just realized I need to report within the next 7 days…

Situation:

1. Primary Work visa – Instructor Status (main job was teaching at a senior high school) – good thru May 21, 2024
2. Permission stamp – Permission to Engage in Other Work – Humanities (side gig for an Eikaiwa, about 25 hours a week) – also good thru May 21.
3. Permission stamp – Permission to Engage… – Humanities (side gig at a juku, about 20 hours a week) – same time as above.

I quit the high school job as of October 31st.

I am still working at the 2 “permission to…” jobs.

In April, I convert to full-time at the Eikaiwa, so I’ll go turn in the “Application to Change Visa Status” at that time.

Questions:

a. What’s the easiest way to report I left the main gig?

b. I’ve read that you are supposed to show you are applying for other jobs? Is this accurate or accurate in my case? If accurate, how do I show that? If not exactly applicable in my case, would I just inform that the Eikaiwa gig becomes full-time in April?

Many thanks.

  1. a. Easiest way is to use the e-Notifications system [here](https://www.ens-immi.moj.go.jp/NA01/NAA01S/NAA01STransfer).

    b. I don’t think you need to go and prove that you’re applying to jobs. Just that you need to have the evidences to prove you are applying should they ever come asking, which is low probability. When you start a new job, you report that via the e-Notifications system again.

Having said that, are you sure that your permission stamp is still valid after you quit your main job?

  2. Btw, make sure you get the letter of separation from the main HS job you just quit as you’ll likely be asked for it by Immigration when applying for the new visa. While companies are supposed to provide it along with your final tax certificates, some can drag their feet supplying these documents.
