Point towards any denshi jisho suitable please

Hey guys, I am in the need of a denshi jisho as it is required for my university degree. I am looking for something that has the Kenkyusha green goddess, as I read that is a good option, also would like it to have a reliable kanji dictionary as well, for any bungo. Any help whatsoever is going to be great!

  1. I have an ancient Seiko SR-S9001 that got me through school. I still use it occasionally. It’s got Kenkyusha and a number of [other useful dictionaries](https://www.sii.co.jp/cp/products/english/srs9001/dictionary.html#gsc.tab=0). It doesn’t have kanji handwriting input, but that wasn’t a feature I cared about. If you want that, a Casio is your best bet.

The Seiko is an old model from 2009, so you’d need to find a used one if you were interested. Honestly though, this is probably about the newest era most people are going to have firsthand experience with, since students mostly stopped using standalone electronic dictionaries after the late 00s.

  2. I read a series of posts around here a couple months ago when I was in Japan looking for one too. While many recommended apps or older models, I chose a Casio professional series as the posters mentioned all flagship models from the last five years or more have green goddess. I went to ebay and only paid a couple hundred used compared to the higher prices from Japan. So, my advice is to look online for used models that were referenced by others. I think the xd-sx 20000 is what I got, but older and newer models exist.

It’s good that you didn’t just get one you could afford without doing research. I actually bought one during university but didn’t realize it was missing dictionaries I needed for my courses. Good luck with your courses.
