1st Time – 10 Day Itinerary Check for Family of 5 with 3 Kids (Tokyo, Kyoto)

Hi! This is my first post after lurking in this group for a couple of months. My family is leaving next week for our first trip to Japan. We will be there for just under 10 full days. Below is our draft itinerary with a few notes:

\- We are a family of 5 including 3 kids ages 6, 7, 10. The kids are adventurous eaters and travelers but are still kids, so their attention spans and energy levels must be taken into consideration. We will not be spending the “recommended” amount of time at various attractions/shrines/etc because we know our kids’ limits and would rather get a small taste than forgo altogether.

\- We love shopping (boutique, artisan, etc) and food and drink!

\- We are flexible and adaptable so this is just a guideline with our wish list woven in. The only non-negotiable activities are our Disney days and The Making of Harry Potter.

I am open to any and all comments. especially food/restaurant recommendations that are family-friendly but not chains. We also love beer, sake, and wine (I work in the US wine industry).

**Thursday November 16th – Tokyo**

3:20pm: Arrive Tokyo

4:00pm: Pick up Pocket Wifi at Japan Wireless; Welcome Suica passport

5:05pm: Airport Limousine to Tokyo Station

6:40pm: Arrive Tokyo Station

7:00pm: Dinner Reservation at TsuruTonTan Udon Noodle Brasserie (Ginza)

8:30pm: Check in to hotel, hotel onsen if open

**Friday November 17th – Tokyo (Asaksusa)**

7:40am: Breakfast at hotel

8:20am: Depart hotel for Kappabashi Street9:00am: Kappabashi Dougu Street – kitchenware shops

10:25am: Depart Kappabashi for food tour (10 minute walk to tour)

10:45am: Arigato Food Tour (Asakusa) – 3 hours from 11am-2pm (6 min walk to Asahi)

2:30pm: Asahi Beer (15 min walk to Skytree)

3:30pm: Tokyo Skytree/Pokemon Center – TBD (9 min train to dinner) – willing to skip this

5:30pm: Dinner Reservation at Nabezo Asakusa Kaminarimon (Shabu Shabu)

7:00pm Back to hotel, onsen if openSaturday

**November 18th – Tokyo (West Side)**

8:30am: Starbucks Reserve Meguro City

10:00am: Shibuya Scramble Crossing – view from TBD/Hachiko Statue

11:00am: Pizza Slice Shibuya

12:00pm: Harajuku – Shopping – Kiddyland

2:00pm: Walk through Yoyogi Park/Meiji Shrine

3:30pm Shinjuku – Shopping – Beams, Don Quixote (kit kats, luggage), Isetan

Dinner: Isetan food hall (25 min train ride back to hotel) and/or McDonalds?

**Sunday November 19th – Tokyo to Kyoto**

8:00am: Check out of hotel, depart for Tokyo Station

8:15am: Arrive at Tokyo Station, get breakfast

8:45am: Get to shinkansen platform

9:00am: Shinkansen to Kyoto

11:15am: Arrive Kyoto, take train to Suntory Yamazki Distillery

12:00pm: Suntory Yamazaki Distillery

1:00pm: Depart Suntory for Kinkaku Ji (1 hour trip by train, train runs every 10 mins)

2:15pm: Kinkaku Ji Temple

3:00pm: Depart Kinkaku Ji for hotel (20 minute trip by train, runs every 20 minutes)

3:30pm: Check in at hotel

4:30pm: Walk to Imperial Palace

**Monday November 20th – Kyoto (Higashiyama)**
