Currently planning a solo trip overseas from Japan. Korea was really great, been there twice and it’s really good for solo traveller as well. Plus, from Fukuoka, the ferry only cost like 7000yen to Busan.
On that note, would this be the right place to ask others experience if you have travelled solo outside japan and how much does it cost?

“How much it costs” depends on you. No one can answer this question. Start with the basics. How to get here (Google prices) and how much you’re willing to pay for a hotel/room. That budget is up to you.
Everything else.. same thing. Depends on your budget. There are plenty of places you can see/go to for free or really low cost. It’s also easy to eat pretty cheaply in Japan (like less than $7 a meal) if you wanted to. Make a list of places you want to go to and look up entrance fees. Or make a list of things you want to eat and people here can tell you how much on average it will cost.
Transportation depends on how many places you go to a day / where you go / where you stay. So I dunno… I would say $10-$15 a day for the train at most?
I recommend Taiwan. Close to Japan, awesome food, relatively affordable, warm, friendly people.
