   Hello everyone!

   It has always been my dream to live in Japan for a while. I’m about to write my Master’s thesis and I feel like this is my last chance to make my dream come true. I just don’t know where to start.

2. Well u have 90 days a as a tourist, so book hotels or airbnb and just write it on your laptop?

3. If you haven’t started yet, you should look into the MEXT scholarship

4. Does your school have any affiliations or relationships with any schools in Japan? Check with your school to see if they have any tips on how you could get yourself set up as a visiting scholar.

   Maybe look for and reach out to professors in Japan directly (ideally someone doing something related to your thesis topic) to see if you could come and work with them for a few months?

5. By “write your thesis” do you mean enroll in and graduate from a Japanese MA program? Or do you mean just travel to Japan and do some research while enrolled as an MA student in your home country.

   If it’s the former, obviously you need to apply for MA programs. You’ll be limited of course by your Japanese ability.

   If it’s the latter, you could probably come on a tourist visa to just write/research, but you wouldn’t be able to work, so you’d need to have enough savings to support yourself. Or a fellowship from your home country.
