Hello everyone:)
We will move to a house in December and yesterday I talked to some moving companies, getting rates etc. We decided to go with Sakai! It’s our very first time, because usually we would do it with family, but now we have too much stuff, so…
Anyways, we chose the standard plan ans they said they will pack EVERYTHING for us (except my plants and pets 😆). But we have lots of many small things around the apartment (figurines, candles, decorations…)
Will they really pack everything? I checked their website of course and googled, some people said that they didn’t take very small stuff if it wasn’t packed properly in advance.
So yeah I just wanted to ask for everyone’s experience:)
Thank you!

Yes.
They are REALLY good.
If you ask them to unpack it is a lifesaver. (Much more expensive tho)
Last time we had Sakai do a full pack and unpack, they even helped me figure out all the cables behind the entertainment center and labelled them all so that reconnecting at the new house was easy.
It was worth 10x what we paid tbh. So professional and speedy.
I’ve moved twice with Japanese moving companies. They are excellent! Clean, thorough, gentle, and polite. They wouldn’t disassemble and reassemble Ikea beds (they tend to break), so I did that myself. I also have a big Lego collection that I packed myself.
I used Sakai a month or so ago when I moved from my apartment to a house. We got a good rate and they moved EVERYTHING we were able to cram into a box, even stuff we fully expected them not to take. They were efficient, helpful, and saved me a huge amount of time and back pain. 100% worth whatever cost they request. We didn’t do full packing and unpacking due to the added cost, but I could see it being worthwhile if you don’t wanna stress about all that.
I’ve used Sakai for decades. The only bad experience was the Tokushima branch. New branch and short-handed to the point they transfer your stuff to a local shipping company for the final leg, people who aren’t used to moving household items. More breakage than in the first 25 years combined. Breaking all the glass shelves in a China cabinet level breakage. Any other time we’ve used them (Kobe branch, Nishiwaki) absolutely top-notch service. Great wrapping, packing etc. I recommend them unless you’re in Tokushima or Awaji.
One thing about having them pack everything. They can’t make decisions about items, so they do pack *everything*. I had them pack MIL’s kitchen and they even packed her rubber band and shopping bag collections, empty lighters, anything that was there when they packed. Weed out well before they pack. They can’t decide to throw out junk, they’re obligated to pack it if it’s there.
I used Sakai three times, and the last time, we were moving only a 10 minutes walk from the place before. Being this close, I thought of doing it myself but seeing that we used them not too long before that, we got a big discount and I remembered how good they were.
Depending on how much you pay, they basically bring your apartment/house to a different place. Furniture placed where you want etc, nothing to do. I even have a bed with pistons that needs to be dismantled and they do it. Really, the peace of mind that everything will be moved safely and within the day is worth it.
About 10 years ago I used them to move and they busted my PC and refused to repair it. It was one of the last pieces moved plus I showed them that it worked. They are pos in my book.
