Windows insulation/ taping

I live in a not so new building, all windows has a very poor insulation and let’s all the heat out. Especially in the last couple days with lower temperatures draft is much stronger.

Maybe someone has a winter routine can share or can recommend from experience how to keep the heat inside and save on heating cost?

  1. I’ve used foamy weather strips to decent success in the past. It’ll fix the direct outflow of the air through the gaps of the sliding windows but does nothing for the heat bridges nor to the convection caused by single-pane windows.

  2. You can also buy a special bubble wrap on amazon (窓ガラス 断熱シート?) that adheres to your windows if you mist it with some water. Actually, I found this also helps keeps the room cooler in summer too since it basically makes shitty windows jury-rigged double-pained glass.
