Has anyone got a recommendation for ready-made gyoza? The ones from a shop in some of the department store food halls called (something vaguely similar to) Pyo Pyo are pretty good. But I have been disappointed with some of the cheaper supermarket brands. The ‘Life’ brand at the supermarkets of the same name is good for many products, but I didn’t like the gyoza I had from them.

Maybe you should specify an area in Japan. Answers for Tokyo will be different than for Okinawa.
Ajinomoto used to be good, but I think they lowered quality quite a bit in order to keep the price competitive. Some of the big chain restaurants also sell them frozen in supermarkets, like Gyouza no Oushou (餃子の王将). Worth trying!
We usually just order a bunch(50-100) from a local restaurant. They’re not that expensive and far better tasting, then just keep them in the fridge or freezer.
muji has good ones if you go to a muji with a freezer section (ginza and jiyugaoka are two i know of)
なにわの肉餃子
Bibigo frozen ones. Love these. They are my go to. Can find 1kg bag in most My Baskets.
Go to Gyouza-no-Manshu (ぎょうざの満州) and get their big bag of frozen gyouza. I guarantee they are better than all the supermarket ones and even better than the frozen ones from restaurants like 王将.
Gyoza Osho is the best in the typical supermarket imo
A lot of unmanned frozen gyoza vendors have sprung up where I live and they also tend to be pretty good!
the korean ones are the best if you can find them
it’s called 王餃子, the brand is bibigo
If you’re including frozen gyouza, the best by far (IMO anyway!) are the Osaka Osho “gyoumu you” (大阪王将 業務用肉餃子) ones. [These ones](https://foodsfridge.jp/ja/show?product_code=791601399).
We buy them from a store called AVE in Kanagawa but you’ll find them elsewhere. Be sure to read the instructions, you need to fry them with a bit of oil. Much better than any supermarket-bought or other frozen gyouza I’ve had.
Best ones are available in Isetan in Shinjuku from Fureika. Not cheap though. For cheaper ones I like Gyoza no Osho
I prefer the Top-Value frozen ones from My Basket super market. Because of how they taste compared to all the others I tried and even better than those of some restaurants.
i quite like the gyouza no yukimatsu frozen gyoza – they have shops all over the country. my personal preference is a much higher wrapper to filling ratio (smaller gyoza are better imo) so maybe if you like the jumbo gyoza these wont up your alley
MinMin gyoza.
I love Fukuchan Gyoza, but I don’t think it’s available outside of Osaka unless you order online.
In Tokyo, Gyoza Mania in Shinagawa

Really good. They have different locations in Tokyo.
If you ever have a chance, ホワイト餃子 was probably one of the best gyoza I had.

The store I went to sold frozen gyoza separately as well.
