So I’ve been on the fence about buying a ps5, but I’ve noticed now the shitty new slim version they’ve brought out that’s more expensive, has less fan space and doesn’t include the stand, seem to be the only one available?
Of course pre owned I can get the previous model but have they literally just stopped selling it? I can’t find it anywhere.
Has anyone found one being sold new?

They really disappeared from the stores, couldn’t find any in Edion or Bic Camera around my place. Not that I would buy one, but I was surprised to see the old model disappear so quickly.
You can only buy used ones on Mercari or at stores like Book Offs. I’m also seeing some options on Amazon but I don’t know if they are trustworthy and you would be paying well over the current MSRP. The new ones are overall better. They are significantly lighter and you can swap out the disk drives if they ever fail. Of course, there’s the online activation fiasco, but that’s the general direction that everything tech-related is headed towards because people just accept it.
Certainly seems like they wanted to clear put the old stock. Sales of PS5s over the last couple of weeks were below Xbox (a couple thousand per week)

Did they really disappear that fast?? I finally got the old (通常版) ps5 model off of Amazon for my husband’s birthday back in September. I just checked and while it’s not from Amazon’s stock itself anymore, there are some reseller options that state they are still in really good quality. Maybe that’s an option if you’re comfortable with that?

You’re the first person to call it “shitty”, every review I’ve seen says the thermals are better and it’s a welcome change.
The old one’s a giant monstrosity. The new one’s still giant, but a little smaller and lighter with more storage. People are saying the thermals and noise are about the same as the old one.
Seems to me like there’s no reason not to just get the slim one.
