Hi , does anyone know whether a bag of powdered matcha be confiscated at the airport ? I’m thinking of giving my friends (a husband and wife in their 60’s) some good matcha to take back to the U.S. Thanks in advance.
If you put it in your check-in luggage, no issue. In a carry-on, possibly an issue.
I have brought it on carry-on many times, zero issues.
Normal amounts in original packaging should be fine checked or in carry-on.
Should be fine, especially when you keep it in its original packing bag.

I bought some fancy powdered tea when i flew from korea to japan and they made me open it and inspect it at immigration at kansai airport. I also usually carry protein powder in a ziploc from the usa to japan and have never gotten questioned about that so its probably just random.
