Leaving Japan permanently but with a round trip ticket?

Apologies if this is a dumb question.

I’m planning to leave Japan soon after having lived here for a few years. One way tickets are absolutely insane, but round trip is a lot more affordable.
My question is, will they question me at the airport why I’m returning my residence card but have a return ticket?

  1. You’ll only have the boarding pass for a single flight to show.

They don’t give a shit and have no way to know about other flights you might have booked.

  2. Immigration doesn’t care but airplane carriers don’t like it and may put you on their do not fly list, but doing it once shouldn’t be a big deal
