My credit card charged me for “エツグ “ but I don’t know what it is

It says “エツグ” for 5000 jpy but when I asked them to explain I have no clue what they are talking about. Anyone know what エツグ is?

Thanks

Update: sorry let me be more transparent here… I got wasted this one night and have no recollection what I did and now I have this 5000 jpy transaction. I guess there is no way of knowing ?

I’m told that “エツグ” is a 決済会社

  1. “Egg”?!

Hmm, any more details of when the transaction happened? If it was during the night Japan time or a time of day when you’d not usually use your card, it could be fraudulent.

If there’s a 株式会社 or similar in the name, you could Google it to see if it’s affiliated with a company you’ve recently purchased from.

  2. Update: they are telling me “決済の会社だそうです” – this translates to a settlement company? What the hell is a settlement company?

  3. 5000 is a very precise number, which makes it a bit odd if you don’t remember spending it.

I know that scammers back in my native country tend to first charge/withdraw a relatively small amount of money from a card they’ve stolen/gotten the info on, as to check if the owner notices or not, before they go for the big bucks. Likely the same everywhere.
Would definitely suggest getting the card closed if you really don’t remember paying 5000 for anything recently.

  4. A basic google search tells me エッグ株式会社 is either a software company in Osaka or a Furusato Nouzei transaction company in Tottori – did you sign up for furusato nouzei?

  5. take the 5000 yen as a lesson on not getting so wasted.. you could have lost all your money to a ho before this lesson

  6. 5000 yen is a pretty cheap lesson learned – don’t get so wasted you don’t know what the hell you’re doing.

  7. 5000 yen for a blackout is really cheap. Take the L and consider yourself lucky it wasn’t ten times that.
