My neighbour has been harrassing me. Banging on the wall at all hours. I wasn’t quite sure it was harrassment until today when I woke up to her very intensly banging on my door and screaming. Obviously I need to gather whatever video evidence to document the harrassment. Is there anything else I should be aware of before proceeding?

Call the cops?
Well what is she saying ?
record everything and call the cops. inform your landlord/company
Introduce him to Shrek.
Nobody can be angry if there’s a Shrek involved.
Serious answer though record it all and go to the police – make a fuss.
Are you doing anything that could be considered outside of normal Japanese behavior. Such as being unnecessarily loud. It might be good to have a little background about why she is acting like a crazy person. If you are doing nothing that may cause her to act that way, then calling the police might be a good start.
Just maybe check and see if your refrigerator is pushed all the way against the wall. It could be making a really loud noise on her side of the wall. Maybe it bumps the wall when you open and close it, and you don’t hear it on your side.
management company.
repeat until you get resolution, and tell your employer if they helped you find the apartment.
Call the landlord and consult with the police
Yes avoid her and check for sounds like fridge and heater… Japanese are notorious for flipping out over the tiny sounds (and more) over offended but sirens still wail all night in the cities. Mngt company first. Plenty of wackos in Japan too and she might be having a go at you for ???
Lots of cases like this coz they just hate us gaijins
Serious question: is your fridge running?
Call the cops
Are you living in the Tamachi/Mita area? sounds like an issue I had a long time ago… she couldn’t still be living there, right?
Call the cops
You can try the cops, however from my experience they’re fucking useless.
Neighbors don’t hit each other’s wall for no reason.
Think of ways to be a better neighbor someone will like to live beside, under or above with.
Perhaps being more considerate in your actions knowing fully well that life is hard, and most people will want to get a good rest before facing the challenges of each day.
Act in ways you would want to treated if the situation is reversed.
Mental illness. If you’re not being a menace just call the cops every time this happens. This will take multiple police visits before the cops lift a finger even if you have full evidence.
