AMEX inquiry center English support

Hey there people.

A few weeks ago I applied for the AMEX Green Card, and having passed the application, I was supposed to receive my card a few days ago. But since the name on my residence card (in English) didn’t match the name on the card envelope (in Katakana), the post office said they can’t hand it to me since the names aren’t an exact match.
I tried a lot of convincing, but long story short, I was advised to call the card company to resolve the issue. However, since the majority of call centers in Japan are only in Japanese, I was wondering if the call center for AMEX in Japan provides any English support?

Thanks!

  1. Based on my experience if you call customer support the automated service will have an option for english but the representative who picks up usually only speaks Japanese. Probably depends on whoever is available.

    You bet! The 24/7 English support is the **MAIN** reason I have been an AMEX customer many years.

    Just call the tollfree number: 0120 010120 , listen to the automated service selection for ENGLISH, and enjoy a moment of relief as you conduct business in English {US college graduate, or at least homestay English}.

    Don’t be shy on the AMEX Japan English helpline. It is set up to help old, clueless, boomer, English-speaking tourists, so you will have an easy time.

    Try to be upbeat and charming on the English support line. Many ^(¿most?) of the young ladies on AMEX’s English support are very amenable and open to your making a proposition to, “Let’s have coffee after work.” {Support people are looking at your credit history, so you are sort of being “pre-approved” for a date.}

  3. You can call 0120-010-120 and it says “For English, press 2”. You can press 2 and talk in English.
