Trying to get PR in Japan after graduation

Hello everyone, American Male (27) here and I wanted to ask: After graduating with an MBA, could I get permanent residency and get it?

Other info: I want to do my master’s degree in Japan. I would probably graduate when I’m 30-32 and I probably won’t make it to N2, but it depends. Really, the ultimate goal is perma residency.

Thanks!

**Trying to get PR in Japan after graduation**

Hello everyone, American Male (27) here and I wanted to ask:
After graduating with an MBA, could I get permanent residency and get it?

Other info: I work remote at a Web Dev/UX Designer, and I wand to do my master’s degree in Japan. I would probably graduate when I’m 30-32 and I probably won’t make it to N2, but it depends. I plan on working remote to support myself and pay for my education. I don’t care about the degree, I just want PR.

    Thanks!

  2. You’re not going to get PR straight out of school.

The basic requirement is 10 years living in Japan, five of those on a status of residence that permits full time work. Since student status only allows up to 28 hours per week of work you can’t satisfy that requirement as a student.

  3. Do you qualify for an HSP visa or have been married to a Japanese national for over 3 years?

  4. There is a chance you could apply for permanent residency as early as one year after starting work. Count your points for Highly Skilled Professional status.

  5. yes, you could, BUT will they give it to you, that is for you to find out.
learn how to search and read. it is all out there …

  6. Not straight away, but if you play your cards right, you can get PR in as few as 1 year and 4 months or so, using the HSP 80 points route.

    – A master degree: 25 points
    – Degree from Japanese university: 10 points
    – 32 years old: 10 points
    – 3~5 years is plenty of time to reach N2: 10 points.

That means you need only 25 more points, and that can easily be filled with a salary above 7M annually.

  7. Thanks, I’ve tried using an HSP calculator but some have outdated info/aren’t clear. This answers it
