Ex boss asked me to do my own 源泉徴収票???

My last post [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/japanlife/s/fo4ebykreu)

Long story short, this is my first year in Japan. Between Feb and March, I worked for a company briefly and left and am now with my current company. I’m doing my year end adjustment with my current company and they asked me to ask my previous employer for 源泉徴収票. My previous employer replied something along the lines of “you don’t need it.” I was confused and thought I was wrong so I went to ask my HR, as well as everyone around me, to which they all said the same thing. Which is to Ask my previous employer for that document. So I did again. Now he replied asking me to make it myself??? I’m anxious right now because I’m not familiar with taxes here and I don’t know how to go about it.

If there’s anyone who is good in Japanese (the convo is in Japanese) and knows this system better than I do, could you advise me on what I should do? I could send screenshots of our conversation. Thank you in advance

  1. You can’t do it yourself. They can’t be serious.

A reason you may not need it is that they may not have been taking apart an amount from your salary for income tax. In this case, you’ll need to pay just as much around March next year.

  2. Oh, I answered your previous question.

Like I said there, if your former employer refuses to issue it, you have to go to the nearest office of [National Tax Agency](https://www.nta.go.jp/english/index.htm) and report it. The company does not pursue their obligation. So the authority will order them to do it.
