Hi all – this is a report according to the itinerary I’ve asked questions about earlier this year in [that post](https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/comments/10wrsp2/itenerary_check_30_days_in_marchapril_tokyo_osaka/).
I was going to do some summary for myself anyway at some point, and as I was asking here question, I thought that maybe someone will find it useful in any manner 😊 What I can say is that I’m ashamed (about myself) that it took me sooooo long to put together (the draft with 12 days was sitting there for a good 4 months). But it’s here now – hope you’ll enjoy
I do hope all is formatted as I intended xD
**NOTE:** I had to split it into 3 part because of the characters limit (which I wasn’t aware of 😛 – and to be frank – all of the links I included (without links it still have to be in 2 parts… )
!!! **The cost breakdown is in the last part. !!!**
**Just some point of reference about us and our way of traveling:**
* We are a couple that turned ours 30 on the trip, and that was one of the reasons for these dates (and blossom ofc)
* We used 1 single[31 days unlimited SIM card from Mobal](https://www.mobal.com/japan-sim-card/#buysim) for whole trip. (the idea was to start with one, and if second needed we’ll just get it – but it wasn’t a case after all)
* We bought 3 week’s JRP on the [official site](https://www.japanrailpass-reservation.net/) that we started using from 03.04.2023.
* During the day we were feeding ourselves in 7-Eleven / bakeries. When we get somewhere we were buying some stuff in advance to get into backpacks, but if there were someone that was selling cool food, we went also for that. As a late dinner we were trying to get something better 😊 (not as 7-Eleven food is bad – it was great!).
* We are not into all that Universal Studios / Legoland stuff. We were mostly roaming around parks/shrines/castles and just walking around cities.
* In most cases we were getting somewhere by train and later follow the trip on foot.
* We were in Japan from 25.03.2023 till 24.04.2023
**Day 01: 25.03.2023, Arriving at Narita**
We landed at Tokyo Narita airport around 08:00 PM. Everything went smooth (we used the [digital.go.jp](https://www.digital.go.jp/en/services/visit_japan_web-en/) web to deal with immigration and Covid stuff). We used [Skyliner](https://www.keisei.co.jp/keisei/tetudou/skyliner/us/skyliner/index.php) at 09:30 PM (still we were waiting for it around 20 minutes, and we also got a ticket for Yamanote line to get to the hotel). In meantime we found ATM and bought yourself something to drink for a train ride.
We check-in in the hotel just before 11:00 PM, left our baggage in the room and went to the nearest 7-Eleven for something to eat.
During that stay in Tokyo we were in the [Tosei Hotel Cocone](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Tosei+Hotel+Cocone/@35.6885887,139.7667452,17.71z/data=!4m9!3m8!1s0x60188c011fdabaf3:0xc4460ef1e2ccea81!5m2!4m1!1i2!8m2!3d35.6895452!4d139.7691111!16s%2Fg%2F11gb3lwn_m?authuser=0&entry=ttu) and for most occasions starting our day from [Kanda Station](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Kanda+Station/@35.6889231,139.7674251,17.71z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x60188c019a160dbd:0x5db48e4e41b360ec!8m2!3d35.6918216!4d139.7709318!16zL20vMDIybmdr?authuser=0&entry=ttu).
**Day 02: 26.03.2023, Tokyo – Chiyoda City**
This day was planned to be easy and to help us get along with Japan. We stayed in Tokyo, and at the first part of the day went to the [Imperial Gardens](https://www.google.com/maps/place/The+East+Gardens+of+the+Imperial+Palace/@35.6865282,139.7550364,17.21z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x60188c13425af13d:0xa31b000a35db03f9!8m2!3d35.6867824!4d139.7571445!16s%2Fm%2F0nbczmq?authuser=0&entry=ttu), [Kitanomaru National Garden](https://www.google.com/maps?output=search&q=Kitanomaru+National+Garden&entry=mc&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjs0vTg7ur_AhWD_SoKHWOpD5UQ0pQJegQICRAB) and [Yasukuni Jinja](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Yasukuni+Jinja/@35.6941403,139.7412741,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x60188c680dae43d5:0xb5e754e6bf88ce90!8m2!3d35.694136!4d139.743849!16zL20vMDFtcjdw?entry=ttu). Unfortunately, it was raining quite heavy, and it appears that my raincoat that supposed to be rain resistance was not… so we went back to the hotel to dry ourselves.
Later on we went for a train and get ourselves to [Zojoji Temple](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Zojoji+Temple/@35.6574833,139.7457179,17z/data=!3m2!4b1!5s0x60188bbe939d5501:0x9d2f59016a3252f0!4m6!3m5!1s0x60188bbe91676c0b:0x88a4a86ddb1dbd24!8m2!3d35.657479!4d139.7482928!16zL20vMDQ1Z3h6?entry=ttu), [Shiba Daijingū](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Shiba+Daijing%C5%AB/@35.6576102,139.7505807,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x60188bc75256bcc3:0xe68c8f03f095a231!8m2!3d35.6576059!4d139.7531556!16s%2Fg%2F1232jp97?entry=ttu), [Hamarikyu Gardens](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Kyu-Shiba-rikyu+Gardens/@35.6562868,139.7507882,16z/data=!4m10!1m2!2m1!1sShiba+Daijing%C5%ABHamarikyu+Gardens!3m6!1s0x60188bcf43836d75:0xa24f998b1e39dd74!8m2!3d35.6549505!4d139.7587206!15sCiBTaGliYSBEYWlqaW5nxatIYW1hcmlreXUgR2FyZGVuc1oiIiBzaGliYSBkYWlqaW5nxatoYW1hcmlreXUgZ2FyZGVuc5IBBmdhcmRlbpoBI0NoWkRTVWhOTUc5blMwVkpRMEZuU1VOMWJrbzNSVTluRUFF4AEA!16s%2Fm%2F05b4k3g?entry=ttu) and on our way back we went to [Bic Camera Yurakucho](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Bic+Camera+Yurakucho/@35.6753857,139.7603339,17z/data=!3m2!4b1!5s0x60188befcd580169:0x3257ceb552916f0!4m6!3m5!1s0x60188bfaab72dbd1:0x87d4f325081b3653!8m2!3d35.6753814!4d139.7629088!16s%2Fg%2F1td42g_m?entry=ttu) as I mismatched the brick and cable for our phones charger and needed to get new one 😛
We went for a dinner at [Echigoya Kinshiro](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Echigoya+Kinshiro/@35.687064,139.7686279,21z/data=!4m14!1m7!3m6!1s0x60188bfaab72dbd1:0x87d4f325081b3653!2sBic+Camera+Yurakucho!8m2!3d35.6753814!4d139.7629088!16s%2Fg%2F1td42g_m!3m5!1s0x60188dfcbb2b3c7f:0xff300a3f2ae3aa70!8m2!3d35.6873477!4d139.7679693!16s%2Fg%2F11gtzprpvv?entry=ttu)
**Day 03: 27.03.2023, Kamakura**
On the 2nd full day, we went to [Kamakura](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Kamakura,+Kanagawa,+Japan/@35.333974,139.4996078,13z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x6018459b80ac5619:0x5700747a399f2502!8m2!3d35.3192128!4d139.5466731!16zL20vMGdxbV8?entry=ttu). We went back to the train to Tokyo from [Kamakura Station](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Kamakura+Station/@35.3190199,139.5478408,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x601845c22a4f73df:0xc7e93a3e84fb0e0e!8m2!3d35.3190156!4d139.5504157!16s%2Fg%2F1tfzb46k?entry=ttu).
In overall Kamakura was astonishing! Later even that we were trying hard to not compare things to each other, we were still having the Kamakura in our minds. After whole trip we agreed that Kamakura was probably the most beautiful place we were in Japan – but that might be also due to the fact that it was a first day with nice weather when we were able to see the full blossom 😊
**Day 04: 28.03.2023, Tokyo – Ueno**
That day was a little rainy – but not too bad. We spent it in the Ueno. We get there by train from our Kanda Station and started from [Ueno Park](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ueno+Park/@35.7162728,139.7719304,15.75z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x60188e9b45906ac3:0xb1cb3623124e645a!8m2!3d35.7147557!4d139.7734312!16zL20vMDJ5NWdk?entry=ttu), then head to the [Ueno Zoo](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ueno+Zoo/@35.71476,139.7708563,17z/data=!4m14!1m7!3m6!1s0x60188e9b45906ac3:0xb1cb3623124e645a!2sUeno+Park!8m2!3d35.7147557!4d139.7734312!16zL20vMDJ5NWdk!3m5!1s0x60188c28f7766d7f:0x76b8b5efa1988ef4!8m2!3d35.7160153!4d139.772882!16zL20vMDN6Zm5t?entry=ttu), visited the [Tokyo National Museum](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Tokyo+National+Museum/@35.71476,139.7708563,17z/data=!3m1!5s0x60188e83526c6cb9:0x4efc1e737b7cad1a!4m14!1m7!3m6!1s0x60188e9b45906ac3:0xb1cb3623124e645a!2sUeno+Park!8m2!3d35.7147557!4d139.7734312!16zL20vMDJ5NWdk!3m5!1s0x60188e8314d77d11:0x232fd618bd4977dd!8m2!3d35.7188351!4d139.7765215!16zL20vMDVzazVn?entry=ttu) and after that started to head to the hotel while visiting more places, such as: [Ueno Toshogu Shrine](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Ueno+Toshogu+Shrine/@35.71476,139.7708563,17z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x60188c287f51b93f:0x44f4e6174250bda9!8m2!3d35.7153719!4d139.7707328!16s%2Fm%2F0nbctz1?entry=ttu), [Shinobazu no Ike Pond](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Shinobazu+no+Ike+Pond/@35.7118078,139.7684847,17z/data=!4m10!1m2!2m1!1sShinobazu+no+Ike+Pond!3m6!1s0x60188c20944ac5a3:0x58638bc622e5b86a!8m2!3d35.7114629!4d139.770865!15sChVTaGlub2JhenUgbm8gSWtlIFBvbmRaFyIVc2hpbm9iYXp1IG5vIGlrZSBwb25kkgESdG91cmlzdF9hdHRyYWN0aW9u4AEA!16s%2Fm%2F03mb145?entry=ttu), [Yushima Tenjin Shrine](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Yushima+Tenjin+Shrine/@35.7114629,139.7663589,17z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x60188c2179792993:0xbae1fad02c5ee1d5!8m2!3d35.7077406!4d139.7682193!16s%2Fm%2F0bs4wl7?entry=ttu), [Kanda Myōjin](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Kanda+My%C5%8Djin/@35.7017849,139.7651416,17z/data=!4m10!1m2!2m1!1sKanda+My%C5%8Djin!3m6!1s0x60188c1ecc161bed:0xf397e4b6bf417c8b!8m2!3d35.7020186!4d139.7678943!15sCg1LYW5kYSBNecWNamluWg8iDWthbmRhIG15xY1qaW6SAQ1zaGludG9fc2hyaW5l4AEA!16s%2Fm%2F0463qs6?entry=ttu) and when it started getting dark we headed to [Akihabara](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Akihabara,+Taito+City,+Tokyo+110-0006,+Japan/@35.7021768,139.7719771,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x60188ea73ea6f4ff:0x5eb9f1e50fe061e3!8m2!3d35.7022589!4d139.7744733!16zL20vMDExOW0?entry=ttu).
When we get out from the museum the weather gets much nicer and also much more people showed up in the park. There is that awesome pathway alongside the lake (but higher) where on both sided are cherries – it looks pretty amazing 😊
For a dinner we tried the [Kikanbo](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Kikanbo/@35.6949233,139.7669853,15.25z/data=!3m1!5s0x60188c020580ff31:0xddafbdb58d6de596!4m15!1m8!3m7!1s0x60188ea73ea6f4ff:0x5eb9f1e50fe061e3!2sAkihabara,+Taito+City,+Tokyo+110-0006,+Japan!3b1!8m2!3d35.7022589!4d139.7744733!16zL20vMDExOW0!3m5!1s0x60188c020f7e92d1:0xb61cf551ada0f90d!8m2!3d35.6936985!4d139.7724063!16s%2Fg%2F11f_p2kslz?entry=ttu)ramen. We were somehow lucky – when we got on place there were only like 5 people in front of us, and when we were about to get in, I counted over 30 more waiting on their turn. The Ramen itself was really good – my wife is saying it was the best during our stay in Japan, but I founded others that I think I liked more and somehow getting along with the less impressed reviews of the place on google maps 😊
**Day 05: 29.03.2023, Tokyo – Shinjuku & Shibuya**
This day there was really nice weather and we also stayed in the city. We started from [Shinjuku Station](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Shinjuku+Station/@35.6852398,139.6976723,15.88z/data=!4m15!1m8!3m7!1s0x60188ea73ea6f4ff:0x5eb9f1e50fe061e3!2sAkihabara,+Taito+City,+Tokyo+110-0006,+Japan!3b1!8m2!3d35.7022589!4d139.7744733!16zL20vMDExOW0!3m5!1s0x60188cd0d6b1ba1f:0x1c32a1f1ecacfdd5!8m2!3d35.6896067!4d139.7005713!16zL20vMDIxdnow?entry=ttu) and went to the [Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Shinjuku+Gyoen+National+Garden/@35.6852398,139.6976723,15.88z/data=!4m15!1m8!3m7!1s0x60188ea73ea6f4ff:0x5eb9f1e50fe061e3!2sAkihabara,+Taito+City,+Tokyo+110-0006,+Japan!3b1!8m2!3d35.7022589!4d139.7744733!16zL20vMDExOW0!3m5!1s0x60188cc21b93233f:0x6a1eb1b5a117f287!8m2!3d35.6851763!4d139.7100517!16zL20vMDdkM24x?entry=ttu). The gardens were one of the most beautify gardens I seen in my life! There is cool small [museum/exhibition](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Shinjukugyoen+Museum/@35.6857255,139.7113958,17.88z/data=!4m15!1m8!3m7!1s0x60188ea73ea6f4ff:0x5eb9f1e50fe061e3!2sAkihabara,+Taito+City,+Tokyo+110-0006,+Japan!3b1!8m2!3d35.7022589!4d139.7744733!16zL20vMDExOW0!3m5!1s0x60188d28df7514e5:0xb1d950665140e34f!8m2!3d35.6860387!4d139.7128049!16s%2Fg%2F11scmjf0nx?entry=ttu) like thing with a room full of projectors where you can watch and read about the history of the site – cool as well.
When having enough with the garden we headed towards [Meiji Jingu Kitasando Torii](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Meiji+Jingu+Kitasando+Torii/@35.6778246,139.698373,15.63z/data=!4m15!1m8!3m7!1s0x60188ea73ea6f4ff:0x5eb9f1e50fe061e3!2sAkihabara,+Taito+City,+Tokyo+110-0006,+Japan!3b1!8m2!3d35.7022589!4d139.7744733!16zL20vMDExOW0!3m5!1s0x60188db1f332550f:0xb866dded4b2721ab!8m2!3d35.6789652!4d139.7021612!16s%2Fg%2F11h1zwgw8t?entry=ttu) to get into [Meiji Jingu](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Meiji+Jingu/@35.675745,139.6964251,15.63z/data=!4m15!1m8!3m7!1s0x60188ea73ea6f4ff:0x5eb9f1e50fe061e3!2sAkihabara,+Taito+City,+Tokyo+110-0006,+Japan!3b1!8m2!3d35.7022589!4d139.7744733!16zL20vMDExOW0!3m5!1s0x60188cb79a4c26e5:0x8fca893849103f73!8m2!3d35.6763976!4d139.6993259!16zL20vMDFxX2s5?entry=ttu). At the end of the day, we went to Tokyo Station to get our JRP and all of the reserved tickets.
**Day 06: 30.03.2023, Kawaguchiko**
This day we had our first further trip – we head ourselves to [Kawaguchiko](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Lake+Kawaguchi/@35.5131177,138.7244276,14z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x60195fb4a5043f4f:0x29cbb24b1e337d47!8m2!3d35.5170946!4d138.7517787!16zL20vMDZ0MXYw?entry=ttu)! For that occasion, we bought ourselves [Tokyo Wide Passes](https://www.jreast.co.jp/multi/en/pass/tokyowidepass.html) for 3 days (as we also went to Nikko 2 days after). We started at Shinjuku getting on the train first to [Ōtsuki](https://www.google.com/maps/place/%C5%8Ctsuki+Station/@35.6092929,138.9315563,14.25z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x601943c9a4fce103:0x59c29edf70d5a540!8m2!3d35.6132125!4d138.9427266!16s%2Fm%2F043q5hj?authuser=0&entry=ttu)(I don’t manage to reserve direct tickets) and then to local train to [Yoshiikeonsen-Mae Station](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Yoshiikeonsen-Mae+Station/@35.5157262,138.7693508,12.25z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x601967465f410ebf:0xa758d4fa2953f6c6!8m2!3d35.5021509!4d138.8121876!16s%2Fm%2F0j42l25?authuser=0&entry=ttu) (the local train had awesome anime inspired exterior!) as our first point of visit was [Chureito Pagoda](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Chureito+Pagoda/@35.5086714,138.7873173,13.25z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x6019674cfd52a073:0xda57e34920aee799!8m2!3d35.5012626!4d138.8013852!16s%2Fg%2F11c1bkcr3m?authuser=0&entry=ttu). The weather was very nice but… cloudy – we spent there like 2 hours hoping for clouds to clear up, but after that we decided to go on the other side of the lake. We went back to the station and catch a train to [Kawaguchiko Station](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Kawaguchiko+Station/@35.5000931,138.7596022,13.25z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x60196082ba487757:0x4d9403afbe34b4ed!8m2!3d35.4982362!4d138.7688409!16s%2Fg%2F1tf7gqq2?authuser=0&entry=ttu) from where we went to [Oishi Park](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Oishi+Park/@35.5000931,138.7596022,13.25z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x60195fa68c0b2b95:0xa22e530b3a652904!8m2!3d35.522904!4d138.7457522!16s%2Fg%2F1tjpqk4h?authuser=0&entry=ttu). We’ve done ourselves a favour at [Lake Bake Cafe](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Lake+Bake+Cafe/@35.5224174,138.7467213,17.5z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x60195fa1499a5145:0xce8bfe8a586ca163!8m2!3d35.5239443!4d138.7474568!16s%2Fg%2F1tld06tv?authuser=0&entry=ttu) 🙂
We spent their couple of hours still hoping to get a clear view (we postponed our coming back and hoped into the later train then initially planned) – but as far as most of the mountain was visible at the end – still the very top was behind the clouds :(.
When we were in our train back from Kawaguchiko Station there were like 2 minutes where we were finally able to see the whole Mt. Fuji!
**Day 07: 31.31.2023, Tokyo – Chiyoda City, Taito City, Sumida City**
This day we spent again in Tokyo. We were trying to star when it was still bright (we started at 17:30 I think), and to stay till dark and see how first light start popping on the street. Even Mt. Fuji was maybe not perfectly but still – visible!
At the dinner we tried stake at [Gyukatsu Motomura Coredo Muromachi](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Gyukatsu+Motomura+Coredo+Muromachi/@35.6876995,139.7727104,17.25z/data=!3m1!5s0x60188955af508d77:0x486cece42834c5f8!4m14!1m7!3m6!1s0x60188ec1a4463df1:0x6c0d289a8292810d!2zU2Vuc8WNLWpp!8m2!3d35.7147651!4d139.7966553!16zL20vMDNrOTg3!3m5!1s0x60188955a8817273:0x6cbf9f5a3f898f4f!8m2!3d35.6867843!4d139.7750899!16s%2Fg%2F11cn0mwn3s?authuser=0&entry=ttu) which was very good!
**Day 08: 01.04.2023, Nikko**
Another longer trip – this time to [Nikko](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Nikko,+Tochigi,+Japan/@36.8465409,139.260606,10z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m6!3m5!1s0x601fa4b7c69ac8d1:0x6f526b42961dd1c0!8m2!3d36.7198987!4d139.6982361!16zL20vMDF3aDRj?entry=ttu). Started same at Shinjuku and headed for [Tōbu-nikkō Station](https://www.google.com/maps/place/T%C5%8Dbu-nikk%C5%8D+Station/@36.7471808,139.6154723,16.25z/data=!4m15!1m8!3m7!1s0x601fa4b7c69ac8d1:0x6f526b42961dd1c0!2sNikko,+Tochigi,+Japan!3b1!8m2!3d36.7198987!4d139.6982361!16zL20vMDF3aDRj!3m5!1s0x601fa0cff9115075:0x9b81a2df79deb28a!8m2!3d36.7478955!4d139.6194787!16s%2Fg%2F1tpc81r9?entry=ttu). Here we almost exclusively were going around the Shrines and Temples on the heritage site. The very cool thing here was that when we were buying tickets for the site, we were meet by the older man who asked us if we want to have a guided tour which was completely free. The case is that they have some sort of ‘club’ of retired people who just for fun are guiding foreigners around. We went for that, and it was super cool! The lady was describing us everything and telling the history of specific buildings but also chit-chatting along 😊
For our surprise when we were there (and it was for over 4 hours at least) we ain’t saw anyone else going for that tour – really don’t know why as it was really superb.
After the heritage site we went for dinner at [山楽](https://www.google.com/maps/place/%E5%B1%B1%E6%A5%BD/@36.7542435,139.5974327,19.21z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x601fa6da549a4f99:0xb8c726a8b376693e!8m2!3d36.754655!4d139.5968882!16s%2Fg%2F1tcz_mks?entry=ttu) and I ate here my first Katsudon in Japan! After that we slowly headed towards the station occasionally going into the shops and buying some souvenirs.
After all I need to say that we should have stayed here for a night and went deeper into the lake area – but maybe another time!
