Do you freeze your rice? (newbie question)

I want to start freezing rice, but I’m trying to determine if I should be cooling down the rice before putting it into the freezer. If it needs to be cooled down, how do you do it? Wrapped in plastic on the counter? Uncovered?

  1. I spread my cooked rice out over a large cookie sheet or plate and let it cool for 30 minutes, before portioning and freezing. I also add a teaspoon or so of water to each container of rice to help with steaming when reheating but I like really soft rice and you may not need to do that.

  2. You should definitely be cooling down the rice. You can either separate the rice into portion and cool it down, or spread it flat so it cools down quicker and separate them in portions.

I normally just leave to cool in a rice bowl or plate and once cooled, wrap it into a cringfilm and freeze them.
