Forgetting your zairyuu card traveling internationally

Has anyone ever forgotten to bring their zairyuu (residence) card when leaving Japan temporarily? I’m curious what would happen, would immigration still allow you to get on your flight

  1. Yeah, did it before on a quick flight to Korea. I had a photo in my phone, immigration on exit gave me a short speech not to forget it again, and on return, a similar (but longer) speech away from the main immigration window. Basically as long as you have a passport its OK*, but they will ask questions and stuff.

*Also might depend on your residence status.

    tl;dr: don’t forget your card.

  2. I had to go to the convenience store (in the airport), buy a 収入印紙 for 3000yen, then fill out a form at immigration. They stamped my passport with a landing permission stamp, and had me fill out the embark slip, and that was that.
