hi all. i believe i lost my wallet tonight (the last place i remember having it was 7/11, and when i checked there they didn’t have it so i’m assuming either it was left there and someone took it or it was lost somewhere on my way back), and i’ve since been to the koban to submit a lost property report. i received a slip of paper, but it’s just a memo with some contact numbers.
my wallet contained my residence card and health insurance card. in the event that it doesn’t turn up and i need a new residence card issued, how do i obtain the actual lost property certification? do i need to return to the koban, or go to a police station?
thanks in advance for any help or advice anyone can give regarding this. it’s already becoming a massive headache.

Yes you need to go back and ask for the certificate, they won’t issue one along with your report initially. Just tell them you’re going to immigration to get a new residence card and need one, they should issue it for you there. If they can’t they’ll direct you to a station where they can.
