Burnable rubbish. You used to be able to take them back to the pharmacy but that’s not allowed any more (I’m not 100% sure why, but my husband complains about it a lot when it comes to getting rid of his excess or medicine that didn’t agree with him).
Other commenters covered pills but in my experience, if it has a needle (like an epipen etc) , bring it to a doctor and say it’s expired and they should take it.
In addition to other comments, you can ask the staff at the pharmacy to dispose of them.
You can ask the doctor who prescribed the medicine what to do, how to dispose it.
My partner has to do self injections 4 times a month and she has to return them to the hospital that prescribed them to her.
