Itinerary Check – 11 days Tokyo/Kyoto/Nara/Gunma

Trip is in 2 days! First time visiting Japan, two travelers. Would love some insight whether the plans seem feasible. I’m a bit worried not enough is planned? Any insight appreciated. I don’t enjoy being in a crowds for a long period of time so itinerary has been planned so that hopefully it’s not an overwhelming trip. Feel free to suggest areas to check out in which I’ve put “explore”

Main Interests:
– Nature, fall foliage, water, nature walks
– Anime, Manga and Comics
– Tea
– Hot springs
– Bit of history/ historical sites

-Hotel in Tokyo is by Akasaka Station.
-Hotel in Kyoto is by Sanjo Station.
-1 night stay at Kashiwaya Ryoken.

Day 0 Depart Canada to Haneda

Day 1 Arrival at Haneda Airport @ 4:55pm
– Purchase suica / transportation card available
– Make way to hotel, stop for dinner

Day 2 (Tokyo – Kyoto)
– Head to Tokyo station, buy Shinkansen tickets to Kyoto
– Shop in Tokyo Station
-Check in to Kyoto hotel

Day 3 (Kyoto)
– Kyoto International Manga Museum (try to get portrait done)
– Lunch reservation at Vegan Ramen UZU Kyoto
– Evening free time to explore Kyoto

Day 4 (Kyoto – Nara)
– 6 am Fushimi Inari
– Nara in afternoon

Day 5 (Kyoto – possible rainy day according to forcast)
-Arashiyama area and attractions

Day 6 (Kyoto – Tokyo)
– d:matcha tea farm experience 9am – 1:15pm
– Head to Kyoto Station for 3:00pm, book Shinkansen to Tokyo
-Arrive in Tokyo and check into hotel

Day 7 (Tokyo – Gunma)
-Kashiwaya Ryoken (shuttle from Tokyo station at 8am)
-Relax, nature walks

Day 8 (Gunma – Tokyo)
– Head back to Tokyo Station for approx 5pm
– Explore Tokyo

Day 9 (Tokyo)
– Asakusa
-Nakano Broadway
– Shops and arcades

Day 10 (Tokyo)
– Team Lab Planets 10am
– Visit Gundam Factory Yokohama
– if time permits, explore Yokohama

Day 11 (Tokyo) Depart Haneda at 6:55pm to Canada
– Shop at Tokyo Station before heading to airport for 2pm.

  1. Look at a Tokyo map before finalizing your plans there. Asakusa, for example, and Nakano Broadway are about an hour apart by train, and neither is a morning place: many shops in Asakusa don’t open until 10 AM, and those in Nakano Broadway until 11 AM or later.

    Team Labs Planets is at least an hour from Yokohama also.
