So I moved into a new place and got a power supply for a rather powerful PC. However, this power supply has a grounding prong that I can’t plug in anywhere. However, my outlet that I use for the AC has both a single 3 prong outlet as well as a liftable tab for ground. The issue is that the AC is already taking up that grounding tab. In addition, the AC’s cable is too short to reach any other outlet other than the 3 prong one. However, what if I bought an extension cable and used it to connect the AC to another outlet. Then I replaced power supply cable with my old USA one that is 3 prong and connected that to the newly available 3 prong outlet. Is this safe and will it work? Sorry I’m not an expert on the topic.

Use a dummy plug if you don’t care about grounding it
Been running my PC without grounding for 7 years, no issues so far. Sockets here are lacking the grounding except for near AC, fridge, laundy machine …
You have a few choices,
1. Switch your PSU supply cable to a 2pin + grounding wire cable. Buy a really long one and connect it up, grounding wire to the tab.
2. Buy an extension multi tap that has grounding and connect it up
3. Don’t bother grounding, switch the cable to a 2 pin one
Because I had odd speaker noise issues that were potentially grounding related, I went from #3 to a mix of 1+2
Remember it’s possible to switch between a 3 prong to a 2 prong + grounding wire via adaptors
Things like [these](https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B000FGGRTW) or similar are cheap and widely available. Like this, you can choose between not bothering with ground or using the wire for it.
