what counts as one month supply of medication?

I want to bring a prescription eczema ointment with me but i lost the prescription information ages ago, so i’m wondering if a single tube can be counted as one months supply without having to submit forms for it for the yakkan shoumei?

edit: if there’s not instructions on the tube and they ask me about it at customs will it be a problem? how can you prove something is only a months supply?

  1. Does the tube have application instructions listed on it? If you follow those instructions, would the amount in the tube last you more than a month? If not, then you have less than one month supply.

If the tube does not have instructions listed on it, then google the medication to find them.

  2. The rules are in place to stop people from bringing/smuggling in large quantities of drugs that can be used as amphetamines or opiates or other drugs that can be abused. Two tubes of eczema ointment will not even show up on their radar.

If, for some unusual reason, it does show up on the radar, you explain that it is a month’s worth. If there is a further dispute, you ditch one tube at customs.

No need to overthink two tubes of eczema ointment.

  3. Last month I brought in three months supply of my daily anti depressant. They didn’t even bother looking at anything in my big suitcase. They just confirmed with me on my customs form I wasn’t declaring anything and then waved me through.

Want to add I didn’t do the medicine form because I didn’t know about it until too late (week before flight) so I took my chance.
