bicycle parking in kawaguchiko and kamakura?

As part of my trip to tokyo, I’m planning on doing some day trips to kawaguchiko and kamakura. On these days, I was looking at renting a bike for the day to ride around instead of walking or taking the train. My question is – what is the bike parking around these areas like if I park it to go have lunch/look around the area? For example oishi park or momiji corridor. Are there designated areas?

  1. Hi,

Can’t comment on Kamakura unfort but I just went cycling last week in Lake Kawaguchiko area, there are dedicated areas for parking bikes/electric scooters for no cost at Oishi Park and Momiji Corridor area. Both quite close to the main spots if you want to park your bike and walk along the pedestrian areas. There wasn’t very clear signage to direct people to these areas but it isn’t hard to spot, cycling looked to be a very popular way to explore the Kawaguchiko area and not difficult to follow where other cyclists are going on the main path/parking. Hope you have a good time and enjoy!

  2. There is bicycle parking by most temples/shrines in Kamakura and the roads are very bike friendly. In fact there’s a bike rental shop we used right next to Kamakura station. The only area you might have trouble finding bike parking would be the main Komachi-Dori.
