Hello everyone !
Here is my story. I will be moving to Japan in Tokyo in late January (if all things go well with the CoE and visa) to work for a company. However, my contract starts in early February so that I can take some time for the moving out process.
Here is my issue though. I have a chronic nose condition, and I’d like to meet with an ENT doctor asap. However it’s too late to do that in my home country (it would take months for the first appointment) so I’d have to take care of that in Japan. I’ve looked online and there are some good ENT clinics in Tokyo that can speak english. My question is, how does the system work in Japan ? Can I already book an appointment now so that I can be taken in charge as soon as I move to Japan ? Do I need the referral of a GP beforehand ? I’d appreciate if anyone can share their information and experience. Thank you !

You don’t need referrals to see most specialists. You can book an appointment usually for a day or two out. I highly doubt any ENT’s booking systems would even let you book an appointment more than a couple weeks out.
