Some context:
I’m Ex-US Military lived in Japan 10 years, now staying under a visa. I heard that one could convert their previous SOFA Drivers License into a Japanese license. However, being the careless dumbass that I am.. before I heard that advice, I already lost my SOFA license while moving.
I have never held a Japanese Drivers License under a visa before. Can I still go through a smoother process in obtaining a drivers license? I have proof I owned 2 cars during my time here, including the Shaken.
Just curious on what my options are. Thanks in advanced for the help, Love you all! Stay Safe

Have you contacted the base? They may have a copy of your license that they can reissue.
Once you’re out the Japanese don’t care about SOFA license. You can convert if you’re going directly from SOFA to Japanese resident, but can’t if you’re no longer SOFA.
I showed them my 4 month expired SOFA license and they didn’t care, still wanted my driving records for my US license
