What college in Kyoto would be best to go to for a Masters in Computer Science, Architecture, or Graphic Design?

American High school student here, learning Japanese so the language barrier won’t be an issue. I want to do things with computers, so game development, computer programming, etc.

Alternatively, although I’m not going to study for it, I’m also super interested in Architecture.

Also, I have studied Graphic design, and wouldn’t mind going to school for it.

At this point, I would have an associate’s degree as well, so achieving the master’s should be easier.

Any colleges/Universities in Kyoto that excel or are really good in terms of teaching any one of these things as well as being prestigious are my goals.

Edit: I am still in my 2nd year! I will be traveling to Japan for this in 2029 after I get my associates.

  2. It’s quite simple in Japan. The more prestigious it is, the better it is.
Kyoto University is the best option, but you must pass an entrance exam. The SAT is not enough to attend.

If your Japanese language skills are CEFR C1 – C2, the language barrier is not a big problem (C1 is equivalent to TOEFL 80 – 90).

If you can understand the Japanese described below without a dictionary or help, your language skills are good enough to study in Japanese.
    日本では何を専攻するだとか将来的にどんな職に就きたいかはひとまず置いておいて、単純に一流や名門と呼ばれている大学に入学しておけばある程度安心でしょう。就活ではまず大学名で大体足切りされるので。

Don’t underestimate the difficulting in learning advanced Japanese

  4. Kyoto U is most prestigious in Kyoto, ranks 1st or 2nd nationally. Not easy to get in to.

Osaka institute of technology and Osaka U are also pretty good for comp sci, Osaka is 10-40 minutes away from Kyoto depending on which train you take. Also not easy to get into.
