Hi there, I recently seasoned a new Donabe by cooking rice porridge in it. Afterwards I see that the underside has a burn mark in the shape of the iron grate from the gas stove top.
Is this normal? I can’t find any information online, and every image I come across shows the underside of donabes always free of marks.

It’s [normal](https://image.rakuten.co.jp/interior-palette/cabinet/special/donabe-know/oteire_kansou.jpg) and it’ll continue to change over time.
I was taught that the bottom has to be completely dry before heating or this happens.
Don’t worry, it’s normal. The one my mom had was black gritty on the bottom after many years of use lol
Perfectly normal.
It because very high reflective heat came back from donabe and melted grates grease then transfered to it . Like printing .
If you want to clean that put a generous amount of salt 🧂 and brush it with tooth brush but you really don’t need to.
Any clay/ceramic/metal or whatever pot/pan will do the exact same thing.
