Late September/Early October plans 2024. Looking for some travel compadres.

Hey everybody,

So I was planning on going to Japan for the first time in fall of next year… Initially, my best friend was going to go with me, but he’s now traveling with his girlfriend somewhere else, but I still wanted to go.

I considered going by myself as I’ve done that before in Italy and Spain, but it would be cool to meet some fellow travelers who might be interested in going around the same time.

I found this great itinerary in a video for a couple of weeks flying into Osaka and going to these places koyasan – Nara – Kyoto – Kanazawa – takayama and finally Tokyo. They all seem amazing and I love the idea of traveling this route.

I’ve been vegan for many years so I don’t plan on eating anything outside of that, so I’d love some guidance on what the best thing to do would be diet wise since eating vegan seems challenging in Japan (no judgements to anyone who doesn’t though) Other than that if any of this sounds good let me know.

Happy holidays everyone!

  2. I can’t help you find a travel companion, but I can help you find vegan food! [Happy Cow](https://www.happycow.net/asia/japan/) has listings of vegan restaurants. Unfortunately, outside of Tokyo, vegan options can be very difficult to find (dashi, which contains fish, is in so many things, so even if something looks like it doesn’t have meat, it is likely it has dashi). In addition to Happy Cow, you might want to research where you can get shojin ryori or temple cuisine, which doesn’t use animal products.

  3. Ill be going to Japan around that time too. Ill be with my friend but then will have the last week by myself 🙂 Would love to meet up.
