I was thinking of applying for Osaka CNET. How competitive is it? What are your experiences? What is the interview process like? I saw that they would prefer a reference. I am currently a JET trying to get out of a toxic environment. I have a really good relationship with my school. Can I use my principal as a reference? If so, are Japanese references allowed? I could translate it, and send both English and Japanese versions buy not sure if they would allow that? Has anyone done that before?

CNET is okay. I don’t know the exact details, but I heard that CNET direct hires don’t get bonuses like the regular 会計年度 direct hire ALTs.
What’s toxic about your current situation, schools or other JETs?
At least in the past Japanese rec letters were fine. It should say on the application info when they release it.
It is fairly competitive as it is direct hire ALT in the big city. No bonus though and amount of leave is almost legal minimum.
