Tokyo US Embassy Passport Renewal Expected Time

1. We applied for one for our child. It took about 3 weeks from when we went until it arrived.

   Fifteen years or so ago I applied in person and after it didn’t arrive for a couple of months contacted the embassy. It seems someone had forgotten it. I got it shortly after that, perhaps within a week.

2. Took about 2-3 weeks earlier this fall.

3. Last spring, took 3-4 weeks.

4. Applied in person, got new one in three weeks with two misspellings, sent it in for a correction and got the new (correct) one about a week and a half later.

5. When I went to the embassy and the person told me it will take “3 to 4 weeks”. When she saw the disappointed look on my face she asked if I need it sooner, I told her yes, I had a flight in 2 weeks. She asked for proof which I showed the email reservation. She told me to return that afternoon to pick up my new passport. This was 2021.

6. I applied through mail in September. Recieved the new passport in 3-4 weeks!

7. Did it a couple months ago and the site said 6-8 but it took like 2.5 weeks.

8. it took less than a month .. late September to late October… very fast . Last time was about 3 months

9. Just had mine renewed, took about a month.

10. Not a renewal but child’s very first passport with CRBA. Told 6-8 weeks and it’s at the 6 week mark currently, still waiting.

11. You no longer do it in person unless it’s a minor. Now it’s done by mail and takes about 2 weeks.

12. About a week but I am SOFA so not sure if it made a difference

13. Last august it took 3 weeks and and 2 days.

14. 2 to 3 weeks for me, which was just a few months ago
