Anyone applied for PR after submitting naturalization application?

As the title says, from past experience did anyone apply for PR after submitting naturalization application? And any negative/delay would that cause to the naturalization?

  1. Permanent residency and naturalization are handled by two completely different bureaus, so the two application processes should not affect each other in the slightest.

Just keep in mind that your permanent residency will be nullified if you complete the naturalization process.

  2. For what purpose?

There’s nothing inherently wrong with doing that, but it does *feel* a little off.

As PR is a separate track to both your current SOR* and naturalisation, it feels like it might rock the boat a little less by waiting to see the results of your naturalisation application.

If you do this, in the event that immigration or the naturalisation officials ask why, make sure you have a good reason prepared.

*If your SOR needs renewing, you need to do renew anyway, even with a PR application in flight.
