Spreadsheet – placement (location) predictions!

1. So fun! I’m betting on/manifesting Sapporo (I ranked the city as my #1 – fingers crossed that the sister city connection pulls through). I also ranked Fukuoka Prefecture and Fukushima Prefecture (I’m literally all across the map lol). I didn’t rank it, but my gut is also telling me Aomori? I have no clue.

   While my patience is slightly dwindling, I’m so happy the wait is almost over 🙂 Fingers crossed for next week!

2. I’m keen! I’m putting my bet down on Ibaraki. I didn’t even list it as a preference but my gut is saying Ibaraki 😂 My second would be Hyogo 👀

3. Down. I picked Hokkaido, Nagoya, and Yamaguchi. I’m super hoping for either Nagoya or Yamaguchi! I want to be near a Costco dang it! lol

4. I picked Yamaguchi, really hoping for it

5. I asked for Akita, Aichi, and Tottori and I hope I get Tottori. I do not want Tokyo, Okinawa, or Hokkaido, so I hope it goes to those that want it

6. I genuinely have no idea, and made no requests, but I asked ChatGPT which suggested Hokkaido, so I’ll go Hokkaido for my prediction!

7. My preferences were Osaka, Saitama, and Kanagawa. I spun the wheel and got Osaka so I’m taking it as a sign and making that my first prediction, Gunma my second, and Hyogo my third 🙂

8. Hyogo was my first choice, then Hiroshima and Osaka third. Imma put it in the universe that I’m getting Hyogo

9. Sounds fun! My requests were Fukuoka-shi, Shikoku, and Ishikawa-ken.

   I’m going to predict somewhere in Kyushu or Shikoku. I’m guessing not many people requested to be that far south.

11. Ooo fun, I put Osaka, Sapporo and Sendai as my preferences so I’m gonna put Sapporo as first guess (manifesting!) then probably Sendai because I dont think that many people requested it. Everyone and their mother wants Osaka so who knows who’ll actually get there but I’ll put it 3rd anyway!

12. Less of a prediction and more of a manifestation but I’m praying for Fukuoka 🙏😭

13. I can’t remember exactly where I chose for preference other than one was Fukuoka, one was the wider area of same, and one was across the water. However, in my interview I was specifically threated with Hokkaido and I said cool, so I’m guessing Hokkaido!

14. Fun! I put Hokkaido, Gifu, and Kanagawa but I’m strongly hoping for Kanagawa since it’ll be near family. 🙂

15. I put Hyogo, Osaka and Nara as my preferences. I somehow have a gut feeling I’ll be assigned somewhere in Hyogo prefecture (praying for Himeji, Nishinomiya or Kobe) or around/near this prefecture. 🥰

16. I requested 1) Ibaraki (Because my friends live in and around that prefecture), 2) Kumamoto (because my great grandfather immigrated to Hawaii from Kumamoto City, Kumamoto, and 3) Ehime (due to natural beauty. Honestly, I feel that I can get any one of these since I feel that these are probably not cities and prefectures that often get chosen.

    However, I would guess that I would be placed in 1) Kumamoto (since I told my interviewer about my family history in this city and mentioned that I would eventually like to do more research to discover if I have any remaining family in Japan, 2) Ibaraki, then 3) Ehime.

17. I requested Yamagata, Nara and Chiba. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if I got Yamagata based on what people have said, but honestly I’m happy with anything (other than not being fussed on the idea of Tokyo lol)

18. I chose Kyoto, Nara and Okayama and I have notification that I’m in Koriyama, Fukushima!😍 In love with my placement- only an hour and a half north of Tokyo on the Tohoku shinkansen☺️

19. I put Kochi, Gifu, and Yamanashi prefectures for no other reason than I’ve heard that they’re nice so I doubt I will get any of them. I have a couple people that want to visit while I’m over so I feel like I’m gonna end up in somewhere super rural or like Okinawa or Hokkaido so no one will actually come 😂

20. I requested Hokkaido, Akita, and Kanagawa prefectures. The first two because I love the scenery and amazing food. Plus I hear there’s some fantastic onsen in the north. Kanagawa because I used to like in Yokohama and still have many friends in the area.

    I’ll be happy with wherever I get as long as I have relatively easy forms of travel so I can see more of the country. Here’s hoping we get results in the next couple days🤞😁🤞

21. My preferences on my form were 1. Shizuoka 2. Kobe 3. Fukuoka! However I am guessing I will get Nagoya, Gunma and Okayama 😋🔮 hopefully we find out soon!

22. I requested 1. Kansai region, 2. Ehime, and 3. Shiga, I feel like they’re kinda more on the undesired side of prefectures but I found them very appealing for a multitude of reasons. I think I’m hoping for Ehime (or even Oita) the most, but I’d be happy with anything in the Kansai region as well. However, i will probably fall in love with WHATEVER location I get in Japan, just excited I’m going in the first place 🙂

23. I put Nagano, Iwate, and Gifu as preferences for various reasons, and my Japanese Sensei is convinced I will get Gifu. But Shiga and Hyogo have been stuck in my mind as where I will go. But I think somewhere in Tohoku is my preference still.

24. I put Fukuoka, Shiga, and Ishikawa prefectures. I’m really hoping for Fukuoka but honestly anywhere in Japan would be fine, I just want to know!

25. I chose Hokkaido, Kyoto, and Fukuoka. I’ll be happy anywhere, if only they’d tell me!

26. Update! I got Toyama-ken ! Specifically Takaoka-shi!

27. Update! Didn’t get Tottori, I got Fukushima-Ken. It’s so pretty if you look past the disaster (look up Fukushima prefecture Japan for non-disaster pictures)

28. I got Aomori! My second prediction and first preference haha

29. Update! I’m going to Okinawa, the exact opposite of the Hokkaido requests but I’ll still take the tropical beaches🏝️

30. Update! I’m going to Kawatana-cho, Kyushu. My first prediction was somewhere on Kyushu so I guessed right!

31. Update! Got Osaka-fu, Yao-shi! Not what I predicted but 1000000% happy and can’t wait!!

32. Update! I’m Hyogo-Ken! I did request Kobe city as one of my choices so they tried 🫡 very happy.

33. Update: I got Tokyo! Totally unexpected but pretty relieved I got a city placement and not a rural one tbh.

    I would absolutely love to know how JET decides placements because preferences just don’t seem to matter at all in most cases haha

34. 2023 upgrade here!!!
    My preferences are Kyoto, Nara, and Yamanashi prefectures. Tbh, anywhere is fine. I’m thrilled to go to Japan soon! 🍀
