Itinerary Check – 15 day Trip : Tokyo – Yamanashi – Kyoto – Shikarawa go

Me and my partner will be travelling to Japan between **March 24 and Apr 9 2024** for our honeymoon. This is our first ever visit to Japan. We would love to get a feedback on our itinerary. A bit about ourselves – I like parks, trees, music and tech. My partner loves to explore cultural and heritage places. We both are not that into food but are eager to try japanese cusine, looking for suggestions on this.

## Day 1 – Tokyo:

* Land in Narita afternoon
* Chidorigafuchi Park at Evening/Night

## Day 2:

* Prince shiba park
* Zojo-ji Temple
* Mori art museum
* Meiji Jingu

## Day 3:

* Sensō-ji
* Ueno Park
* Akihabara shopping

## Day 4:

* Jiyugaoka
* Todoroki Ravine
* Meguro River Cherry Blossoms Promenade

## Day 5:

* teamLab Planets
* The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation
* Small Worlds Tokyo

## Day 6 – Yamanashi:

* Check out and Take a bus to Yamanashi
* Kawaguchiko Music Forest Museum
* Chureito Pagoda
* Arakura Fuji Sengen Shrine

## Day 7:

* Oshino Hakkai
* Kitaguchi Hongu Fuji Sengen Shrine

## Day 8 – Kyoto:

* Check out – Take bus then shinkansen to Kyoto
* Kiyomizu-dera
* Sannenzaka
* Ninenzaka

## Day 9:

* Kinkaku-ji
* Ryōan-ji
* Arashiyama Bamboo Grove

## Day 10:

* Daigo-ji Temple
* Fushimi Kandakara Shrine
* Senbon Torii

## Day 11:

* Philosopher’s Path
* Romantic Train

## Day 12:

* Kifune Shrine
* Hirobun

Help! How to get to both these places? Google maps give a 3 km walk after Kurama Station. Would love to know the best way to reach here.

## Day 13 & 14 – Shikarawa-Go:

* Check out and travel to Shirakawa
* Explore places

## Day 15 – Tokyo:

* Travel to Tokyo
* Take the flight out at evening

With the math I did with travel, I didn’t find the JR Pass to be worth but I could be wrong.

    On your Day#2 in Tokyo, you should check if the new TeamLab Borderless Museum will be open in Azabudai Hills complex. If it is, then you should include it into your program, as is it very close to Zojo-ji temple.

    In Kyoto, during your exploration around Kiyomizu-dera on Day#8, push a bit further to visit Chion-in, Shoren-in and Nanzen-Ji. Those places are truly beautiful…

    I would also consider a short trip to Otsu, and explore the surroundings of Onjo-ji.

    On Day#12, i think you should take the Eizan Line and stop at Kibuneguchi Station, then get a local bus no33, and get off at Umemiyabashi. Then it’s a short walk to Kifune shrine.

  2. If you like parks/gardens I’d recommend checking out the Hamarikyu gardens in Tokyo as well.
