Yeah fuck that.
Japanese people are way too passive, this is the biggest fucking waste of money, there ought to be a legit riot. That’s over $500 million USD even with the exchange rate RN for this corporate circlejerk.
I went to the 2005 Expo somewhere in Aichi.
It wasn’t worth it.
Not even a little bit.
Why the fuck should I keep giving them my taxes if they are going to continue to waste them?
>the government planned to spend up to ¥36 billion on the Japan pavilion
221M EUR for a pavillion. What? How? That’s entirely ridiculous.
Yeah, this is crazy Im just straight up choosing not to go anywhere near kansai in 2025 these expos are total waste of time.
what is the long term strategy and ROI? Do they plan on riding the exposure by increasing land prices there? I’ve heard they wanted to make a casino around there, any plans for that?
Every single public construction project goes over budget – not limited to Japan. Every. Single. Time. And there are never any consequences.
They should not be allowed to select construction companies that they have any financial interest in.
Waste of money and time
I’ve always felt like I’m missing something with these. Like, the Olympics, the World Cup, everyone watches it, it’s a big deal, you want to host it, cool. But the World Expo? I don’t know if it’s because of the country I grew up in (the UK) but it doesn’t feel like anyone talks about or cares about it? It’s not on the news or TV or anything in the UK. Is it a huge deal in Japan? It seems like a huge amount of money to spend on something I feel like a lot of people are barely aware of.
They’d probably better keep an eye out for young men with improvised guns.
