Online FBI Background Check Question

I’m an upcoming JET for 2023-2024 and I haven’t seen any answers to this question on the subreddit already, so I thought I’d ask here. For those who got an online criminal background check and have been sent the email and pin— It says my pin only lasts for 30 min, but I’ve seen responses in other threads saying to forward the email with the pin. Should I just open the link and download the pdf and send that? Or should I send them the initial email with the link to the website. It doesn’t seem like they’ll be able to access my log-in to the fieldprint website just from the email they sent me. Anyone know what I’m supposed to do in this case?

  1. I forwarded the original email that contained both a link and a PIN. My results were viewable for 90 days.

If the PIN is valid for 30 minutes *after use*, I’d forward all the information (link + pin). They’ll let you know if they need something else.

Otherwise, I would try to call your coordinator. I would not access the check or download it myself unless instructed.

  2. I got the online one and I copy pasta’d the pin and link over. Don’t open the link or put in the code for the link.

  3. You should ask your consulate for what they prefer, but I know that some people from my area (Toronto, Canada) printed out the PDF and then scanned it again. But I would assume the PDF file on its own should be sufficient.

  4. I actually had this same conundrum with using fieldprint the other day LOL. What I did was call my consulate and ask the coordinator about what I was supposed to do and he basically said that they need to download the PDF from a source that isn’t you. Right after calling and talking about it I emailed my consulate with the link to the fieldprint results, my email and password, and the pin. If you open the link after 30 minutes since the last pin you get a fresh pin emailed so do that to make sure the pin will work. My coordinator was able to login and download the pdf and let me know I was all set! I think it’s a good idea to call them right before so they’re on the lookout for the email since they need to access it within 30 minutes.
