How do electronic dictionaries compare to phone app dictionaries or paper dictionaries? Anyone have experience they can share?
I have a mobile Pasmo on my phone and a card that I want to use to top it up, but for some reason I can’t add that card to my Apple Wallet. Is there anywhere I can physically top up a Mobile Pasmo with a physical card?
Asking for my friend back home. She is half with dual citizenship, her mother lives in the US with a green card without solid plans to return to Japan.
Her mother knows the inheritance tax in Japan is steep, but they aren’t sure if American assets are counted in the Japanese law. Apparently any lawyer they ask can’t give a direct answer since while her mother doesn’t have assets here in Japan, she doesn’t want my friend to deal with a huge tax from Japan if she inherited the American assets that are there.
I needed a Yuupacket box to send my Merukari stuff to someone. Lawsons sells those boxes so I grabbed one off the shelf, pack my box, and go to the kiosk to print out the shipping label. I go to the register and I point to the barcode and tell the full-time staff (I know she’s full-time because she’s there all the time) to scan it because I want to buy it.
I see the loading screen go off above her head as she’s trying to process that I want to buy the box and not have the box shipped just yet. The transaction finishes for the box, then I give her the shipping receipt from the kiosk. She scans that and prepares the shipping envelope. She makes the comment that I should buy the box 1st before I pack it. (as in, she wants me to take the box off the shelf go to the register, complete the transaction, then go to the kiosk and come back to get it shipped. Two trips to the register)
I’ve always bought the box and had it sold in one trip to the register all the time at this convenience store and many others. Haven’t had an issue until now.
What are your thoughts? One trip or two trips to the register?
This is probably a long shot because I know most people just have little shrines in their homes for loved ones, but are there any shrines or temples in Tokyo where you can do something like light a candle or make some kind of offering to the dead? My family is coming to visit soon and since my dad passed away recently I was thinking it would be nice for all of us to do something like this. (I haven’t had the time to set up a nice shrine in my own home yet)
Also, I’ve been considering buying a new washing machine on Amazon and it says that you need to pay separately for the recycle fee for your old machine. Does that mean I can just buy the sodai gomi tickets and have them on hand when Amazon delivers the new one, or do I need to also set up a date to have the sodai gomi people take it away? I figured I wouldn’t need to do that if Amazon is hauling it away, but it’s a little confusing.
Why do so many OTC medications here have caffeine?
Is there a term that means something like “for night-time use”, or do I just need to check every ingredient label to find something caffeine-free?
Where do I check for the average salary for my position and experience in Tokyo. Recently my interviewer said that my salary is too high, meanwhile my friends with similar experience earn more. I just need to make sure.
PS: did try Glassdoor, average salary is my asking salary lmao
Suppose I’ve used a disposable camera to take tasteful NSFW photos between two consenting adults, am I okay to get these developed at any BIC camera etc. as usual, or do I need to go to some specific place?
Back in Sept, I missed a monthly payment on my personal health insurance while I was being transfer to my company’s health insurance. Do I still need to pay this? I assume I have to go to city hall to pay it?
