Going to visit Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka in mid-January for my birthday! Open to suggestions because itinerary seems a bit slow on some days.
Day 1 (Tokyo)
– Get to Narita around 5:30pm
– Head to hotel in Shinjuku
– Walk around Shinjuku and grab dinner
Day 2 (Tokyo)
– Walk around Shinjuku and Shibuya
– Shibuya Sky evening tickets
Day 3 (Tokyo) (My birthday!)
– TeamLabs reservation at 9am
– Lunch at Toyusu Fish Market
– Walk up to Tsukiji and Ginza and walk around
– Walk to Imperial Palace and check out gardens
– Any restaurant recommendations for my birthday? Would like some omakase.
Day 4 (Osaka)
– Head down to Osaka and get there around 11am
– Drop stuff off at hotel
– Head over to Osaka Castle and check out gardens
– Head down to Den Den Town
– Head to Dotonburi for evening walk and dinner
Day 5 (Kobe/Osaka)
– Spend morning and afternoon in Kobe
– Chill and walk around Osaka in the evening
– Any Kobe beef recommendations?
Day 6 (Kyoto)
– Head to Kyoto in the morning. Hotel by Nishiki Market
– Check into hotel and enjoy onsen
– Walk around Gion and Nishiki Market
– Any other suggestions for this day?
Day 7 (Kyoto)
– Sightseeing east side of Kyoto (Fushimi-Nari shrine in morning)
Day 8 (Kyoto)
– Sightseeing west side (Arashiyama area)
Day 9 (Fuji Five Lakes Area)
– Head up to this area from Kyoto. Splurge for one night in this area with onsen.
– Any recommendations?
Day 10 – 12
– Head back to Tokyo, do random shit and buy souvenirs. Fly out Day 12
– Open to suggestions

Keep in mind that Tsukiji businesses close early in the afternoon between 2 and 3 PM. This is why it tends to be a morning activity.
Edit: also to avoid crowds maybe try scheduling Nishiki market between 2 to 3 PM. Lunch rush has passed and there’s enough time to see everything before businesses close at 5 PM.
