  2. I suppose replacing the center with a cheaper metal is a more honest way to devalue the coin versus coating or alloying. It’s all fiat money anyway.

  3. Is the process that makes the 500 yen coins that are rejected by vending machine and parking lot kiosks that accept the other 500 yen coins?
