Mobal MNP question – success but they told me I failed lol

Hi guys,

I recently moved to Japan and used Mobal as a temporary solution. I decided to go with another provider so did the following. To be honest it’s a bit stupid but I appreciate your patience.

Nov 19: I requested MNP and they gave me the number the next day. It expires Dec 4.

Nov 21: I applied for another carrier online, got the request approved.

Nov 24: I received my SIM card. Wanted to wait until Nov 29 so I could squeeze every bit of Mobal.

Nov 28: (Today) I got a mail from Mobal saying that my MNP request failed blah blah. Freaked out, I then installed the SIM, and asked the new provider to do the switch right away. It worked and I’m on the new provider happily lol

Here’s the question. On Mobal’s site it says I’m still active. I sent them a mail, but I’m worried the response would come after 3 business days. I don’t want to be charged on Dec 1st, so I need to make sure they terminate my contract ASAP. Can I go on Mobal’s site and request cancellation there? I’m worried that my current plan on the new provider gets disconnected, but that shouldn’t happen given that I’ve switched over, right?

  1. Dumb question but have you checked that your old number gets through to you, as opposed to your new provider activating you with a new number?
